The sweet promise of lucrative returns borne out of a bustling Philippine real estate sector is one to be enjoyed not only by the property developers, but also by the ordinary Filipino.

As bright prospects and a bullish outlook define what is to become of the local property sector over the next few years, more potential investors are coming forward to cash in on that expected boom – an upward trend in the demand for residential and office spaces to be fuelled largely by increased investments and bustling economic activities.

And while the developers are long considered as the greatest beneficiary of this upward trend, there is also one other sector who silently reaps its fruits – the sales agents.

Take the case of Gabriel “Billy” Dominguez, who made a huge leap from being a government employee, to becoming a successful real estate sales agent, believing that a career in this sector holds huge opportunities for any individual. Today, Dominguez is president of his own real estate company called Green Circle Realty.

Dominguez established in 2006 Green Circle Realty, based on an optimistic premise that “housing is a basic need. There are so many people who want to acquire their own homes.”

Admittedly, one of the main factors that pushed Dominguez to pursue a career in the real estate sector was the lucrative commissions.

“While working as a government employee, I saw the need to augment my income. I told myself that my salary alone as a government employee would not be enough to provide for the needs of my growing family,” Dominguez shared.

Dominguez’s life-changing moments came when he was invited by a friend to attend a seminar on real estate selling, which he immediately accepted. Shortly afterwards, he became a part-time sales agent.

And as Dominguez was trying to learn the ropes of the business, it was then that he started to realize that he was earning more from his part-time work than from his regular job.

“This was the time I decided to resign from my government job and went full-time with my real estate selling. In selling, once you tap the potential buyers, there is always that opportunity to earn big. There is always that possibility of earning unlimited income,” Dominguez explained of his bold move.

Dominguez is so happy to have accumulated 22 rewarding years of experience in the real estate selling business.

“I have no regrets. A lot of the good things my family and I are enjoying right now came from this business that I have learned to love and enjoy doing,” he claimed.
“In an opportunity-based job like real estate selling, income can be unlimited because it is dependent on the opportunities captured by the sales agent. The more hardworking an agent is, the more he will earn. In a security-based job like employment, salary is fixed based on what is stated in the employment contract and the corresponding job description,” he explained.

“Undoubtedly, real estate selling is one of the most financially-rewarding endeavors one can engage in, but more than the financial rewards, the opportunity to be of help to many people, especially the homeless, is more fulfilling. As president of Green Circle Realty, I am happy and proud to have been instrumental in helping thousands of people own their homes,” Dominguez further shared.
As part of  Dominguez’s paying forward efforts, he encourages the learning of his trade by holding free seminars for enterprising individuals. These seminars are open to fresh graduates, employees, OFWs, entrepreneurs, self-employed & professionals, housewives, internet enthusiasts & salesmen from different industries.

To date, Green Circle Realty has hundreds of full-time and part-time sales agents who help continue improve the landscape of real estate selling in the country..

Success Story: From Government Employee to Real Estate Agent

Wally Bayola (Walter James Bayola)  first became known as a stand-up comedian in different comedy bars in the metro.  What fueled his career was when he joined the longest-running and no doubt undisputed noon time show in the Philippines, Eat Bulaga, alongside another comedian Jose Manalo in the early 2000s. Wally may be effective in hosting just like all the “Dabarkads” in the show, but what really appealed to the viewers was his comedic spiels most especially when he portrayed various interesting personalities. Everything was doing great for him until 2013 when a video scandal that starred him and an Eat Bulaga dancer leaked for everyone to see.Without batting an eyelash, the show’s management withdrew Wally Bayola from the show.

Jose Manalo, his partner, went on with the show without him but it cannot be denied that the flavor was bland without his partner. Episode after episode, Wally fans anticipated his comeback, wishing to have at least a short glance of him in Juan For All, All For One, the segment which the bald comedian used to be a part of. After a 5-month hiatus, an emotional Wally Bayola surprised everyone when he showed-up holding a birthday cake for his partner. Birthday greetings turned into apologies, as the repentant Wally profusely said sorry to Jose, whom he called "kuya," for not listening to his advises. The comedian also apologized to Eat Bulaga management, hosts and viewers and expressed hope that the show and its millions of viewers give him another chance.

The talented bald man definitely deserved a second chance, but he did not receive it just like that. For the most part of All For Juan, Juan For All segment, he was doing nothing. If not a wallflower, he played slave to Jose. Microphone deprived, short to say. Until just recently, Wally started playing Doktora Dora de Explorer, a health practitioner that gave out-of-this-world advises in issues ranging from stinky feet to domestic violence. And from that hilarious segment, Wally Bayola slowly gained back the nod of viewers which clearly showed their forgiveness and acceptance to him.

After the short yet remarkable stint of Doktora Dora de Explorer, Wally was given a new role as Donya Nidora Esperanza Zobeyala vda. de Explorer, better known as Lola Nidora. With a new discovery named Mendoza, known first as the Dubsmash Queen then later as the phenomenal Yaya Dub in Eat Bulaga's Kalye Serye, Wally Bayola shone even better. Eat Bulaga absolutely made the right decision in putting this talented man in the limelight once again. The Kalye Serye segment evolved into something Filipino audience cannot live without, something that changed the viewing habits of noon time show patrons.

According to Wally Bayola, what he is doing right now is his way of repaying Eat Bulaga for the second chance given to him. After the scandal that he got involved with, he was very grateful of the opportunity to work with the gang and be part of the Dabarkads again.  “Parang yung chance na ibinigay sa akin, parang suklian ko naman nang hindi naman kayo magsisi na binigyan niyo ako ng chance. I need to do my job very well.’’ That was him in an interview  with Pep,ph.

With the fame Lola Nidora is getting and the entire Kalye Serye cast, Wally Bayola has indeed arrived. Grateful of the second chance given to him, Wally has become an epitome of the Robert Griffin III quote: ‘’Hard work pays off - hard work beats talent any day, but if you're talented and work hard, it's hard to be beat.’’  The comeback of Wally Bayola happened in what Lola Nidora would always say: Sa tamang panahon.

Got A Gigantic Appetite? These Dining Spots Will Get You Loaded!

When you were scouting for a new school for your children, did you take time out to see how their classrooms are going to be like? Most of the recognized schools today have airconditioned classrooms and parents like you like it that way. Why not? This only means that your children are comfortable while learning. And what else is there in the classroom? Projector and multi-media screens. Wow! A classroom that does not use a blackboard, rather, projector screens. And did you hear it right? The school uses iPad, where educational apps are downloaded, instead of books? Cool, you say? Children of today indeed live and breathe high tech, and technology follows them wherever they go. Is it a yay or a nay?

Everything in excess is not good, so as the cliche goes. Too much incorporating of technology to the lives of the children have a negative side to it which leads to serious and life long effects. To prevent the bad consequences of high technology to children, both parents and educators must determine the unfavorable effects of ever-evolving technology to children.

Serious Effect 1: With an easy access to gadgets, more and more toddlers use mobile media, while 95% of teenagers spend long hours online. Children  spend too much time online that it changes the way they do things and alters how their brains function. A child that plays video games may develop his ability to pay attention to a lot of things all at the same time--multitasking to make it sound more appealing--but he may also be at risk for decreased memory and short attention span. Students who frequently use the internet in searching answers for their homework may be very good in finding information but poor in remembering it. Consequently, children lose their sense of imagination and interest in discovering something new. Thinking of upgrading your tablet so your kiddo can have the latest model? Do think twice.

Serious Effect 2: Have you noticed that the more gadgets there are in the house, the lesser your children interact with you? Lack of interaction results to lack of emotions as there are less time spent talking and spending time with the family. The time spent with your children becomes less, hence,  the hugging, cuddling, playing, talking, running outside, and other activities that facilitate emotions become scarce as well. Further, with the lack of physical contact and social interaction, children lose their ability to empathize and fails to recognize the importance of getting in touch with people. If your children are not anymore kissing you goodnight before they go to bed, or greet you when you arrive home from work, don't be surprised.

Serious Effect 3: Kids who spend too much time playing with their laptops or tablets have no interest in playing outside anymore. They are too consumed and overwhelmed with high-tech games that they do not find hide-and-seek and jumping rope and outdoor games appealing and exciting. They tend to spend too much time with their gadgets that they do not move in their seats anymore. And what happens if the body moves too little? You guessed it right: weight gain. Apart from the sedentary lifestyle, kids also eat while they play online games or surf the internet. Because it is very likely that they prefer chips or fast-food while doing their thing, they become even more prone to obesity and poor lifestyle.

High technology does not play villain at all times. It cannot be denied that the invention of gadgets and smartphones makes the daily life better, and parents benefit from its multitude of use as well. But what we are establishing here is a sense of balance. An hour or two a day of playing gadgets is not that all bad. After he has claimed his "gadget time," encourage him to go out and play outside, pick some flowers in the garden, dance in the living room, bake your favorite cookie, or do some arts and crafts. There are so many things to enjoy and discover, and as a parent, you can lead him in exploring the wonderful things around him without any gadgets required.

How Technology Is "Destroying" Our Children

Being the last day of the stressful work week, every working Filipino looks forward to Fridays. In Metro Manila, traffic on a Friday night becomes tight, but who would mind? Friday is when people distress, go out with friends, and unwind. And if the end of the working week falls on a payday, the more they want to go out and have a good time.

But the 28th of August, a Friday payday, was something Filipinos in the Metro probably won’t forget.  While everybody was out having a good time, Iglesia Ni Cristo, one of the bigger religions in the Philippines, asked their members to head to EDSA to express their angst and sentiments regarding the government, most particularly DOJ Secretary Leila De Lima, meddling on the on-going issue between Iglesia Ni Cristo and the expelled minister Isias Samson, Jr. By 9:00 PM, EDSA Shrine north bound and south bound service roads were no longer passable.

For motorists and commuters, the Iglesia Ni Cristo rally was really devastating. EDSA’s traffic has always been terrible to begin with, and with thousands of INC members blocking the road, there was no way vehicles could move from one point to the next. And that did not occur on Friday alone, as the influential group staged a rally in the major thoroughfare for five consecutive days. Could you imagine the suffering motorists and commuters had to go through for five consecutive days? That was way beyond terrible.

The 5-day protest of Iglesia Ni Cristo members affected not just the traffic, but the lives of people passing EDSA. And of course, the ones affected had the social media as their avenue for expressing their disgust over the matter.

And just recently, Teddy Locsin blogged about a woman who died because the ambulance taking her to the hospital could not make it to through the heavy traffic caused by the Iglesia Ni Cristo protest. And that there were actually hospitals that turned down the request for ambulance if the ambulance had to pass through EDSA, or the roads where the protest was being staged.

After the 5-day protest has ended, reports shortly circulated that the government and Iglesia Ni Cristo had an agreement that led to the cease of the rally: the resignation of DOJ Secretary Leila De Lima. Looked the powers of Iglesia Ni Cristo won, but Mar Roxas, Interior and Local Secretary, denied the rumors, while the fierce De Lima said she will not resign, or she will but not at the moment, on a notably toned-down attitude. The INC rally has already mellowed, but the reactions of people towards the rally that started on that Friday payday has not died down up to now, most especially that the Filipino people were left hanging on what the “agreement” between the government and Iglesia Ni Cristo was all about.

The 5-day EDSA Agony: How Iglesia Ni Cristo Took Over the Metro

If you are in the lookout for exceptional singers, go to the Philippines. This country is made up of 7,100 islands and each island has a number of extremely-talented singers to be proud of. Do the math. But the talent of Filipinos when it comes to singing is not exclusive to this country alone. We all know that Filipinos can be found all over the world, and with their talent in singing in tow, it is not at all surprising if Ellen DeGeneres’s show regularly features Filipino singers and David Foster continuously discovers new talents to manage. Just recently, it was Simon Cowell who got amused when he heard the powerful voices of 4th Power, a quartet of sisters from Isabela in the Philippines, who auditioned and effortlessly made it to the X Factor UK.

According to Cowell, the performance of the foursome was “one of the best first auditions” he had ever seen. Belting Jessie J’s Bang Bang with a bang, the sisters Mylene, Irene, Almira and Celina, aged 19-27, said they flew all the way to the UK to see Cowell and Queen Elizabeth. But of course we all know the primary reason for travelling miles and miles was to put their mark in the X Factor UK scene. And with four judges who all picked up their jaws from the floor and an audience who went wild upon hearing how each of the sisters hit the high notes of the song, the Filipina quartet made it.

With singing voices meant to be famous all over the globe, there is no questioning why the Filipina sisters got the nod of the judges and the audience. But here is the catch: there are news circulating that these ladies are already professional performers and actually have several titles and recognitions up their sleeves. For those who are clueless, X Factor is supposed to be for those who are wannabes, first timers, and inexperienced. But with the records 4th Power is holding, many are questioning why they even made it to the list of auditionees in the first place. The following are some of the factors that question the quartet’s legitimacy:

·        That the group was actually approached to audition for X Factor UK, and that that judges were not informed about it so they could showcase a pure and genuine reaction towards the performance. Short to say, the producers invited them to be part of the show’s new season’s launch.
·         That the group is actually professional singers and even has music records up for sale in Amazon.
·         That the sisters are a massive hit in Asia and have won in series of contests in the likes of:
  •    Superstar K6, Korea’s biggest talent show
  •    Showtime, Philippine’s premier noontime show
  •    Pinoy Idol, a talent show once aired in the Philippines which was produced by Freemantle Media which is also behind X Factor.

·         That the group has already performed as professional singers in the United States.

If the alleged invitation to audition is true, the producers were able to hit their goal which is to make the launch of the talent show much talked-about. And now that the performance of 4th Power reaching more than 3 million hits in Youtube, what happens next after the controversy makes watching X Factor more exciting.

The Controversy That Follows The Banging Performance Of 4th Power in X Factor UK
